Embarrassing Italian Pronunciation Mistakes

While Italian pronunciation is relatively simple, in Italian we have a lot of double consonant sounds which many English speakers find hard to pronounce.

It’s all well and good, until the mispronunciation creates another word and then… it’s a mess!

In this video we look at a few tricky words, where the way you pronounce the consonant definitely makes a difference.

ANNO  = year
ANO = anus

PENNE = penne (pasta type)
PENE = penis

PAPÀ = daddy
PAPA = the Pope

MAMMA = mommy
M’AMA = he/she loves me

NONNO = grandfather
NONO = nineth

CARNE = meat
CANE = dog

GHIACCIO = ice
